Do not feel frustrated- BP oil spill

May 30, 2010

We know frustration can only make things worse

I have discussed the risks of  Top Kill method in stopping the BP oil spill in  the article Kill the oil well? — BP oil spill.

Apparently, the worry has become something real this night ( 0:39 am, 5-30-2010). BP just announced that the Top Kill has failed to stop the oil ushering into the Gulf of Mexico.  Even though, over 30,000 barrels of muds have been pumped into the well, it just can not stop the oil spill.

Very Frustrated moment for the oil well engineers, the Louisiana state residents (with over 110 miles coastlines already polluted by the thick oil), and all of us.

It is the second trial of BP in its attempt to stop the oil spill.  The first one is the plug of thinner pipe to the Blowout preventer to reduce or stop the spill.  The third attempt is going to be a method called lower-marine-riser-package (LMRP).

The oil pollution is an environmental disaster. It will take many years, if ever, to restore the ecosystems impacted by the leak.
But the righteous attitude of the American government, and to an extent, the American people, is not pleasant to see.
The Union Carbide gas leak in Mumbai in India in 1984 killed 5000 that night and 15,000 more in the following few weeks!
This poisoned site has STILL not been cleared up after 23 years, and there are many children STILL being born with birth defects every year.
If it is right that America gets their environmental disaster cleared up then the same should apply to Mumbai where it is people, particularly children, who are suffering and dying from the effects of their polluted land. It was an American company that did this damage!

The environment impact due to the oil spill can last over
30 years. It is our duty, as a watchdog, to watch this environment
disaster closely. More update of BP oil spill will be covered. More
actions will be taken by us.
