An Internet 100 times faster than the current
Research led by MIT Professor Vincet W.S.Chan just got a breakthrough of internet information transmit speed. Currently, most of internet information is transmitted through optical fiber. The optical signal has to be transformed into/from electrical signals in the joint of these optical fibers. This transformation process slows down the internet speed.
The novel idea is to reduce the number of times optical signal and electrical signal transformation by the so called optical flow switching method, paper. The method is implemented with a new transport architecture to optimize the optical switching process.
