Mozilla Fennec project brings Firefox to mobile

August 4, 2010

Fennec = Mobile

Fennec project is Mozilla’s effort to bring Firefox to mobile devices. Until present, it has successfully bring Firefox to Nokia N900, which runs on the maemo platform, which is an open operating system designed for mobile devices. It is also claimed that the Firefox for maemo is almost 6 times faster than the Maemo built in browser.

Fennec project also has released Pre-Alpha Firefox for Android. The first public release should be around the end of 2010.  If you are really interested in being involved in the Forefox Android app development process, then you grab the code here.

Unfortunately, due to the closed nature of iPhone SDK, Fennec can not be allowed to run on iPhone. Instead, Firefox is forced just developing Firefox Home for the sync of bookmaks, history from laptop/desktop to your iPhone.
