Punk math by Tom Henderson

August 19, 2010

Open math book, not boring, or even possibly punk!

Tom Henderson just recently launched a project on Kickstarter called punk mathematics. With the raised fund, Tom can write a mathematics book, which is more fun to read and understand. He has setup a row of timeline for the project.

Phase 1: Writing Like Mad (ongoing)
Phase 2: Mathpunx Unite!: Six weeks of interactive online mathematical ridiculousness designed to make your brain sore (in all the right ways)
Phase 3: Rewrites and editing; incorporation of Phase 2 material
Phase 4: Typesetting and publishing

Tom is a mathematics lecturer at Portland State University. He is literally a comedian on the light fingered five. He is also truly fascinated with punk math by blogging the experiences of punk math with Math Punk. He and Nick Horton also co-started mathforprimates, an audio podcast website for math.
