MIT energy initiative, ambitious and aggressive

MIT energy initiative was started from 2006. It involves almost all MIT engineering and science departments and over dozens of Labs. Under this umbrella, the initiative has achieved several renown projects. including the very recent fat-making bacteria, which can be used for making the biodiesel.
The initiative is chaired by George P. Shultz, the famous American economist, statesman, and businessman. It means the MIT energy initiative can continuously bring external resources to the research. The initiative is also the focused topic between President Obama and MIT.
It is also because of the project, numerous MIT undergraduate and graduate students are awarded DOE fellowship. The initiative becomes a facilator and center of the MIT clean energy research.
