Want an AsyncTask on Android App? Use Droid-fu

September 18, 2010

Make an AsyncTask

Today we decided to write more than one Droid App dev article. Because I just can not stop feeling exicited about this open source Droid App helper. Its name is Droid-Fu, easy to remember, right?

Open source Droid-Fu can help doing AsyncTask in Android App. What is AsyncTask? Put it simple, it is like a parallel task or background task, which can do some tasks for example, fetching data from Web in the background.

The Android builtin Async task lib is not able to continue it activity, when the current task is disturbed, which leads to many trouble for Droid App developers.

Matthias Käppler came up with the idea called Better Async task. The Better Async task is used in production qype droid App. The Droid-Fu also has some documentation, which is mainly avaiable on Matthias’s blog.

I couldn’t agree more with Umar. I’ve been looking for useful resources on your project but google hasn’t come up with anything at all. Just the API.
Now, usually, I appreciate projects like yours, but after going through all the hassle with re-installing the android SDKs and Maven, I am quite angry that I cannot find a decent example on how to use BetterAsyncTask. So, as long as there is nothing like that available, I wont say thank you, because your project made me waste my time! Sorry
